soo, i'm in nice, france. le côte d'azure. and it's incredible.
leaving seattle, i was terrified. and excited. but the thought of traveling to europe for the first time by myself was really scary. i made it to the nice airport and thankfully my french professor showed up. so i didn't have to figure out the way to my appartment alone.
my appartment is on the 5th floor of le segurane. it's tiny, a little moldy, and completely adorable. i have a little kitchen area, a bathroom, a bed, and a desk. and the lovliest little window that i leave open all day long.
i've met some really fun people. and some not so fun people. but the little group of friends that i've made is really great. pretty much everyone here is in upper level french. i'm in level two. haha. which is appropriate since i've only had a year of french. i have three classes - a general french class, french civilisation, and french cinèma. my professors won't speak english and it's challenging but i think i've already learned a ton. my cinèma professor is the cutest little french man i've ever seen. je l'épouserai.
our appartments are in old nice and just a few blocks from la plage (the beach). there are little cafès and les boulangeries on every corner. we do all our grocery shopping at carrefour. it's like a fred meyer and about six blocks away. it's kind of hard to pick out groceries or things on a menu with limited french. so far i've liked all the food i've tried here except veal. that was definitely not my favorite.
i'm having so much fun and have tons more to write but i have to go to class! i miss you all!!
au revoir!!
ashley - i miss you so much and haven't had a chance to make phone calls but as soon as i can i'll call you! love you!
