"The 'Third World' is a term I don't like very much, because we're all one world. I want people to know that the largest part of humanity is suffering." -Audrey Hepburn
learning about the hardships of others makes me forget about my own.
it makes me forget about the stresses of my life. my very easy, comfortable, wonderful life.
and it makes my heart ache.
when i hear about homeless people in the US, or a starving child in india, or the sex slaves in taiwan, or the displaced families in uganda, and the people who die every day in undeserving situations.
my heart hurts for all of them. and even more, my heart hurts for all of us.
what we are: the fortunate. the rich. the lazy. the greedy. the lustful. the prideful. the envious.
what we should be: the helpful. the caring. the empathetic. the empowered. the giving. the loving.
"jesus did not die two thousand years ago so that i could live a more comfortable life."
that's been on repeat in my head for a week.
i want to do something. i want to help someone. everyone.
i know i can't save the world. no one can. except Jesus.
i just want to help.
