"Jesus did not die two thousand years ago so that i could live a more comfortable life."
i felt sick when i heard that.
how many times have i spent money on completely frivolous, useless, worthless things.
maybe they have worldly worth. but i'm certain Jesus was not in the business of vanity.
we have everything offered to us. EVERYTHING.
why shouldn't we use that to help others?
watching a snowboarding video and going snowboarding is NOT the same.
and putting money in the offering basket for mission work and ministering to people is not the same.
we don't all need to drop everything and move to a foreign country and live without toilet paper and pepsi in order to fulfill that. not at all.
it's as simple as helping in our own community.
love God, love others.
by doing those two things purely, we follow God's plan for us.
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no commandment greater than these. Mark 12:30-31
i'm embarrased of the way i've spent a lot of my time and money.
and i don't need to wait for a mission opportunity in order to use my gifts that God has given me.
